How to Read Your Inspection Tag

Knowing how to read your inspection tag is an important aspect in assuring your fire & life safety systems are up to date. You may see inspection tags in different colors or with various company logos, but every inspection tag will have the same basic components. Anatomy of the Inspection Tag

Why?

Why is this important?

Your inspection tags let the Fire Marshal know that you are up to date on your inspections and that you are dedicated to keeping your building safe.

Where?

Where are these tags located?

The tags are located visibly on each piece of equipment inspected.

Who?

Who performed the service?

This section tells you who your technician was and their license number.

What?

What was serviced?

The equipment that was inspected will have a punch to show which system was serviced.

When?

When is it due again?

This will be punched on the date of the inspection and as noted is void one year from month punched (except for systems which are 6 months or as required).
